• Thompsons Lake State Park - East Berne, NY. The only local public campground - (6 1/2 miles away). Off Rt. 157 outside Altamont. 140 sites. Reserve through MISTIX - 800-456-2267. Local #: 518-872-1674. Reserve at least 7 days in advance but earlier is recommended. Pets allowed with 6-foot leash and proof of rabies inoculation. 2 vehicles allowed per site (fee for guests and additional vehicles).
