The Old Songs Festival of Traditional Music & Dance occurs
each year on the last full weekend in June (2014 dates:
June 27, 28, 29). The focus of the festival, as stated
by its
name, is on traditional
folk
music,
be it
of the Americas, the British Isles and Celtic lands, greater
Europe,
or, indeed, anywhere in the world. In general, performers
are hired whose work embodies, exemplifies or is in some
way rooted in traditional music. (We are not what one might
call a "singer-songwriter festival", though we
do present many performing songwriters who we feel fit
our criteria)
The
programming committee for the Old Songs Festival begins meeting
in the fall to plan and book the performers for the following
June. If
you feel that you or a performer or group that you represent
would be a good match for Old Songs, we invite you to apply
to the festival by sending a promotional kit no later than September 30 for the following June's festival. If you have applied
by the deadline and we have not chosen you once our booking
is complete (usually by early January), we will notify you
of our regrets by email or postal mail.
A
promotional kit should include a BIO, photo and a
recording, preferably one that is representative of your live
performance. Our preference is for physical promotional materials to be sent by mail, but we do allow EPK submissions.
"Hard copy" submissions
may be mailed to:
