These are monthly gatherings intended to foster community participation in music making. Come and join in the fun!


1st Wednesday of the month
Open Mic Night

7:30 - 10:30 pm.
Strut your stuff and share your talent! Walk in and sign up to play (fifteen minutes). Local performer Kate Blain will host. $3 cover charge.

2nd Wednesday of the month (Sept.-May)
Contra Dance Tunes
7:00 - 9pm.
Playing for dancing with rhythm and style. Build your skills and dance tune repertoire. All instruments & skill levels welcome.
Leader: Terri Lukacko
$3 donation


3rd Wednesday of the month (Oct.-June)
Traditional Irish Slow Session

7:30 - 9pm.

This is a friendly, repertoire-building opportunity to play your new tunes slowly and work on your old tunes at a reasonable tempo. We will focus specifically on traditional Irish music, and all Irish-appropriate instruments are welcome (i.e. wooden flute, tin whistle, concertina, button or piano accordion, guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, fiddle, harp). We encourage tape recorders, and focus on learning tunes by ear. Music stands and continuous use of sheet music discouraged. Bring snacks to share. 3rd Monday of the month (Sept.-May)      
African Drum Class
7:00 - 8:15 pm. Next classes:

Drum CircleStudy African drumming. Participants will learn authentic drumming from many countries in West Africa. Emphasis will be on traditional rhythms & drumming techniques on djembes, dunduns & other hand drums. Please join us for this fun filled class. All levels are welcomed. Some drums may be available to borrow on a first come, first served basis. Instructor John Dickson.

4th Wednesday of the month (Sept.-May)      
Aussie Bush Band Jam

7:00 pm

Come and learn some tunes from Tasmania, New South Wales, and Victoria. Join in with acoustic instruments. Squeezeboxes and lagerphones encouraged. We might even sing a song. Some sheet music will be provided, but the tunes are also very accessible for playing by ear. All skill levels are welcome and listeners, too. Leader: Terri Lukacko.
$3 donation.

2nd Sunday of the month (Oct.-May) 
1:00-4:00 pm. October thru May
A sing-around for the whole family.

4th Sunday of the month (Sept.-June)
Sunday Four Poetry

3:00 pm.
Open Mic with featured poets.
Dedicated to the convivial understanding

  • 2 p.m. at Smith’s Tavern Dining Room —a free pint and a slice for the first 25 readers!
